Anthony Scaramucci Says Melania Trump Doesn’t Tell President Donald Trump ‘to Tone It Down’ Anymore

Former advisor to President Donald Trump, Anthony Scaramucci, is weighing in on Melania Trump’s noticeable absence from her husband’s second term.

While appearing on the Sunday, August 9 episode of The Daily Beast Podcast hosted by Joanna Coles, Scaramucci, 62 — who briefly served as White House Communications Director in 2017 during Donald’s first term — explained that the first lady, 56, is no longer there to be a source of reason for the commander-in-chief, 80.

“When she was more friendly with him, she would tell him to tone it down, and he would actually listen to her,” Scaramucci shared. “There’s very few people that Trump listens to.”

Coles then questioned the couple’s current relationship, to which Scaramucci said, “it’s distant for a number of different reasons.”

“I think they probably have grown apart. And I think her attitude is she’s not going to embarrass him,” Scaramucci shared. “It’s pretty clear that they’re not living together. And I think it was probably pretty clear to the journalists in Trump 1.0 that they weren’t living together. But that doesn’t mean that she’s not going to show up and be friendly and she’s not going to do certain things.”

Additionally, Scaramucci pointed out how the first lady’s office “is virtually non-existent.”

“It’s not staffed, and she’s not working on projects like she was in the first term,” he explained.

Contributor to The Daily Beast, Nell Scovell, questioned why Melania and Ivanka Trump are not in Washington since they could be “positive influences” on the president, to which Scaramucci explained, “they’re looking at this saying that cost-benefit analysis is overwhelmingly negative,” noting the billionaire is “on a money grift vengeance tour.”

“The family unit that came into Trump 1.0 didn’t like it,” Scaramucci claimed earlier in the episode. “They didn’t like the blistering in Washington. They didn’t like the 360-degree firing squad. I don’t think they like the spotlight that was put on them.”

Ivanka and her husband Jared Kushner both acted as advisors in Donald’s first administration but took a step back for his second term.
