Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor Arrested on 66th Birthday: Inside a ‘Furious’ King Charles’ Involvement (Exclusive)

The jig is up for Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor. The disgraced royal — formerly known as Prince Andrew — was arrested on Feb. 19 on suspicion of misconduct while in public office, amid new revelations surrounding his relationship with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

According to BBC, Thames Valley Police said in a statement that it arrested a man in his 60s from Norfolk “on suspicion of misconduct in public office.” (In line with national guidance, Thames Valley Police is not naming the man arrested.) The police force added that it is carrying out searches at addresses in Norfolk and Berkshire, the location of Andrew’s previous home, Royal Lodge.

The shocking arrest comes after the U.S. Department of Justice released files that appear to show King Charles’ brother, 66, knowingly shared with late pedophile Epstein confidential information from Andrew’s work as the United Kingdom’s trade envoy.

Speaking of the alleged information leak, royal expert Hilary Fordwich tells Globe, “This is high treason. I really do think this is going to be one of the final nails in the coffin. It confirms Andrew’s despicable character. Not only is he not loyal to his own family, he’s willing to betray his nation.”

Emails from the latest document drop seem to show Andrew passing along to Epstein official reports about international visits and details of investment opportunities during 2010 and 2011. Andrew served as the U.K.’s Special Representative for International Trade and Investment — a role that has a duty of confidentiality — from 2001 until 2011 when he resigned following scrutiny over his expenses and relationships with questionable figures.

One message dated Oct. 7, 2010 suggests Andrew sent Epstein details of his upcoming official visits to Singapore, Vietnam, Hong Kong and Shenzhen, China. Then on Nov. 30, he appears to have forwarded reports on those visits to Epstein — five minutes after receiving them himself.

Further, dozens of emails between Epstein and Andrew’s pal David Stern show an ongoing discussion between 2010 and 2018 where the trio discussed investment opportunities in Asia using a variety of business names such as Green Park, Serpentine Group, Asia Gateway and Witan Holdings.

According to insiders, Andrew allegedly set up a kickback scheme with Epstein when the former duke was supposed to be promoting British business interests abroad.

Andrew claimed in 2019 that he saw Epstein in early December 2010 to cut ties after the letch did time in Florida for a prostitution charge related to offenses involving a minor. However, the Epstein dossier appears to show that Andrew contacted the sex creep on Dec. 24, 2010, sending him a confidential briefing on investment opportunities in the reconstruction of Helmand Province, Afghanistan. At the time, the war-torn area was being overseen by British armed forces and funded by cash from the U.K. government.

“Following a thorough assessment, we have now opened an investigation into this allegation of misconduct in public office,” Thames Valley Assistant Chief Constable Oliver Wright said. “It is important that we protect the integrity and objectivity of our investigation as we work with our partners to investigate this alleged [offense].”

Wright added, “We understand the significant public interest in this case, and we will provide updates at the appropriate time.”

Authorities have the full backing of King Charles, who stripped his brother of his royal titles in October, just as files released by the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee revealed fresh details about Andrew’s ties to Epstein.

“It appears now King Charles threw his brother under the bus, quietly giving the authorities the order to investigate and send his brother to jail,” a royal insider tells Globe exclusively. “He told them to go for it because he is furious at Andrew and doesn’t want the royal family to continue being tainted by this scandal. He wants it — and his brother — to go away.”

In 2022, Andrew was banned from being a working royal by the late Queen Elizabeth II after Epstein sex slave Virginia Giuffre sued him for allegedly sexually assaulting her when she was 17. He denied the accusations of Virginia, who died in 2025 at age 41, but paid her a reported $16 million to settle her suit — money that some say was a loan from Charles that Andrew never paid back.

Last year, Charles stripped away his brother’s birthright title of prince, as well as that of the Duke of York, and ordered him out of the crown-owned Royal Lodge in Windsor.

In February, sources say exiled Andrew was removed from Royal Lodge under cover of night and brought to his temporary home of Wood Farm in Norfolk on the Sandringham Estate, which is privately owned by the monarch.

Prior to Andrew’s arrest, Buckingham Palace released a statement asserting: “If we are approached by Thames Valley Police, we stand ready to support them.”

The insider adds, “Charles may actually be willing to give information to the authorities because Andrew has caused him and the throne more harm than good.”

“What now follows is the full, fair and proper process by which this issue is investigated in the appropriate manner and by the appropriate authorities,” the king said. “In this, as I have said before, they have our full and wholehearted support and co-operation.

“Let me state clearly: The law must take its course. As this process continues, it would not be right for me to comment further on this matter. Meanwhile, my family and I will continue in our duty and service to you all.”
