“Rescheduling was not automatic. It was a choice that the WHCA board made after thoughtful consideration and input from our members,” CBS News‘ senior White House correspondent Weijia Jiang announced on Tuesday, June 2.
The redo event will be held on July 24. While the location is yet to be announced, Jiang assured guests that “significantly enhanced safety measures” will be implemented.
“I want to thank board members for the time and care they brought to this decision, particularly on the security front,” she continued. “We will share additional details directly with attendees.”
The event, originally held on April 25, marked the first time President Donald Trump attended the annual dinner during either of his terms.

However, the celebration was disrupted after an armed man allegedly breached security. Cole Tomas Allen was arrested and charged with federal gun crimes and attempting to assassinate President Donald Trump, for which he pleaded not guilty.
