Patrick Clancy’s New Wife Rachel Danis Reveals Family Was ‘Worried’ When They Started Dating

Rachel Danis says the people closest to her had understandable concerns when they realized she was dating Patrick Clancy, but she found herself increasingly certain about their relationship.

Danis, 37, discussed those early reactions in an extended clip CBS shared on Tuesday, September 22, from Patrick’s 60 Minutes interview, which initially aired on Sunday.

Danis, an infertility specialist, met Patrick through a New York running club in January 2024, and the couple married in April 2026, according to CBS News.

Asked during the interview how friends and relatives reacted when they first learned about Patrick, Danis said, “Everyone paused, um, understandably so,” according to the New York Post.

Danis said only a small circle initially knew about the romance, though other family members gradually figured it out. “So people were catching on and I think people were worried,” she said.

Still, Danis said the relationship brought an unexpected ease to her life.

“I would say and still say, for the first time, Sundays felt like Saturdays. So I didn’t have a reason to stop,” she recalled.

“Life just got a lot calmer for me. And while I did have hesitations, you know, Pat was saying he wants the same things that I do,” she added.

Patrick’s former wife, Lindsay Clancy, went on trial this year in the deaths of their children, Cora, 5, Dawson, 3, and Callan, 8 months. The trial ended in a mistrial after jurors failed to reach a unanimous verdict.

Globe previously reported that Patrick and Danis also revealed during the 60 Minutes interview that they are starting a family.

Patrick said he hopes their future child will grow up knowing about Cora, Dawson and Callan. “I can’t wait to tell them about their brothers and sister,” he said.

In another clip from Patrick’s interview, the grieving father of three addressed how he views justice in cases involving severe mental illness. “I think we can find a compassionate way to deal with these tragedies,” Patrick told CBS correspondent Ross Douthat.

“And that, that doesn’t mean no accountability. It just means that we recognize the suffering and the stigma, and we try to find a way to prevent this from happening in the future. That’s always how I’ve looked at it.”

The mistrial left Lindsay’s case unresolved after her defense argued she was suffering from postpartum psychosis, with prosecutors still weighing whether to try her again.
