Pam Bondi reportedly begged President Donald Trump not to fire her when the two had a heated exchange shortly before he addressed the nation.
According to a report from the Daily Mail published on Thursday, April 2, Bondi, 60, asked for Trump, 79, to give her more time in her role as attorney general.
“She was unhappy and tried to change his mind,” a source told the publication.
However, Trump was unmoved by her pleas and went ahead with his decision, allegedly telling her an announcement would be made shortly.
The Daily Mail reported that Trump believes Bondi may have given a heads-up to Congressman Eric Swalwell about the FBI’s plans to release information about his relationship with alleged Chinese spy, Christine Fang.
