The Back to the Future star, 64, assured fans he was just fine after a CNN headline reading “Remembering the life of actor Michael J. Fox” accidentally made it seem like he had died on Wednesday, April 8.
“How do you react when you turn on the TV and CNN is reporting your death?” Fox began in a message shared on Threads hours after the article was published. “Do you…A) switch to MNSBC, or whatever they are calling themselves these days, (B) Pour scolding hot water on your lap, if it hurts your fine, (C) Call your wife, hopefully she’s concerned but reassuring, (D) Relax, they do this once every year, (E) Ask yourself wtf ?”
He concluded by writing, “I thought the world was ending, but apparently it’s just me and I’m ok. Love, Mike.”

The Family Ties alum also cheekily shared a community note underneath his Threads post that said, “Michael J. Fox is alive. The post from his official, verified account (@realmikejfox) confirms he is responding to false reports of his passing. No reputable news outlets have confirmed a death report.”
“Michael is doing great,” Fox’s representative told the outlet. “He was at PaleyFest yesterday. He was on stage and was giving interviews.”
The article was quickly removed from CNN’s site and a spokesperson for the network told Globe, “The package was published in error; we have removed it from our platforms and send our apologies to Michael J. Fox and his family.”
