Kim Kardashian ‘Gutted’ By Not Being Asked to Host Met Gala: ‘She Was Already Imagining the Dress’

Kim Kardashian won’t be the belle of the Met Ball next year.

Beyoncé, Nicole Kidman and Venus Williams were announced as the cochairs of the 2026 Met Gala on Wednesday, December 10 — leaving one celebrity super disappointed.

“I’m told Kim Kardashian quietly believed this was her year. Not hoped. Believed. And then… boom. Beyoncé happened,” Rob Shuter reported in his Naughty But Nice Substack on Friday, December 12, noting that the reality star had been led to believe that she was “closer than ever” to getting the honor.

“Kim was already imagining the dress and the moment,” an insider revealed to Shuter.

Another noted that the Skims founder, 45, thought she’d made all the right social connections.

“If your best friend is Lauren Sánchez and she’s paying for the event, you assume anything is possible. Kim thought this was finally locked,” said the source.

So when Kardashian didn’t make the list she was “gutted,” a longtime Met watcher told Shuter.

Once Beyoncé, 44, agreed to come back after a 10-year hiatus, “the board didn’t look at anyone else,” the Met insider added.

And the All’s Fair actress will have to settle for being a guest again. “She’ll go. She’ll look unreal. But hosting?” the source told Shuter. “That dream just slid further down the staircase.”
