An insider tells the Globe that Jennifer Aniston has “big dreams” of starring on Broadway — and she was inspired by her old friend, George Clooney.
The A-lister, 56, caught the former ER star’s performance in Good Night, and Good Luck in May. “Jen was incredibly impressed with George and what he managed to pull off,” the insider says of his show, which earned rave reviews and became the first Broadway production to stream live on TV.

But unlike Clooney, the Friends alum “doesn’t want to write and produce a show,” says the insider.
While spending time in New York City with her new beau, Jim Curtis, in early August, Aniston “met with producers of already in-the-works shows to see if she can fit something in, even if it’s just a six- or eight-week production next spring,” says the insider.
“She’s only going to say yes if she can find a production that’s the perfect fit,” explains the insider.
Aniston told People in June that doing a Broadway play is on her “bucket list. But it’s finding the right time and finding the right piece, the right material.”
She’s definitely got the chops. Aniston graduated from Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts — the school that inspired Fame — and starred in a few Off-Broadway productions in the late 1980s before moving to Hollywood. “What’s cool is that Jen is open to doing a play or a musical,” says the insider.
As anyone who saw her duet with Billy Crudup — singing “Not While I’m Around” from Stephen Sondheim’s Sweeney Todd — on The Morning Show in 2019 knows, “she can sing, even if she’s hardly ever done it on camera,” adds the insider. “She’s really excited to go for it on a Broadway stage!”
