George Clooney may be back on stage sooner rather than later!
The two-time Academy Award winner, 64, famously made his Broadway debut in March, adapting his 2005 film, Good Night and Good Luck, into a play. The historical drama follows the real 1950s conflict between CBS broadcaster Edward R. Murrow and U.S. Senator Joseph McCarthy and had a limited run at the Winter Garden Theatre, closing on June 8.
According to a source, the ER alum, is now exploring other Broadway opportunities and may make New York City his new home base.
“The big surprise for George and his inner circle with bringing Good Night and Good Luck to Broadway was the live audiences,” a source exclusively tells Globe. “The show broke box office records, but inside the theater, people loved what George and the rest of the cast did and the curtain calls were incredibly gratifying for everybody up on stage.”

“George wasn’t expecting this level of financial success at all, and it’s making him take an even closer look at more Broadway ventures,” the source continued. “If he could make it work financially, he’d happily mount a new Broadway play every couple of years.”
But, warns the source, “Good Night and Good Luck is going to be hard to top when George inevitably decides to make another run on Broadway.”
Good Night and Good Luck received five nominations at this year’s Tony Awards. Clooney himself was nominated in the Best Actor in a Play category but was beaten out by Cole Escola, who stars in Oh, Mary!
The source added that George’s wife, Amal Clooney, 47 — whom he shares twins Ella and Alexander, 8, with — has also enjoyed her time in the Big Apple.
“George and Amal have fallen in love with New York all over again, after not spending much time there over the last 10 years,” says the source.

In February, while the show was in rehearsals, George appeared on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert and said his kids liked living in the city that never sleeps.
“They love being here, and we’re having a really fun time,” he remarked. “Actually, a play is kind of a good schedule in a way because you’re working at night, and you get to see the kids during the day.”
Geoge appeared onCBS Mornings in April and opened up more about having his family with him in NYC.
“They’ve got a school they like and are having fun at. You know Amal and I are having a really great time in life,” the filmmaker gushed.
