Gayle King’s ‘Unrelatable’ Diva Moment Reportedly ‘Didn’t Surprise Anyone’
A video went viral late last month showing CBS Mornings’ anchor Gayle King walking in rainy New York City as another woman held an umbrella over her head.
The clip quickly garnered hundreds of comments from critics calling the journalist “unrelatable” and “elitist.”
According to a new report from Rob Shuter’s Naughty But Nice Substack, King’s diva behavior wasn’t a shock to those around her.
“The video didn’t surprise anyone — it exposed what insiders already knew,” a source told Shuter on Thursday, April 23. “People didn’t just see an umbrella — they saw hierarchy.”
The insider added, “The clip went viral — but the reputation was already there.”
In the clip, King was holding a cup of coffee and her phone in one hand as she walked from inside a building to a waiting car. In addition to the umbrella carrier, there was an unidentified gentleman walking beside her.
“Gayle likes things a certain way — and that usually means someone else handling the details,” Shuter’s source said. “People feel like they saw behind the brand — and they’re not sure they like it.”
