Dave Portnoy called out New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani after a wild fight between an UberEats driver and a security guard broke out at Barstool headquarters.
“We had a crazy scene today at Barstool World Hq. An uber eats driver got in a fight with Gia in the hallway over her order. Our security guard Dan went into the hall to tell the guy to leave and he attacked him,” Portnoy, 49, wrote alongside a video of the brawl via X on Monday, August 24.
“Beat him up pretty good.@stoolsalesguy saved the day pulling him off. (Thankfully it was Gaz and not Mintzy who arrived 1st.) Then the rest of the troops rushed in followed by Cody and Travy for the Boys to help out,” the Barstool founder continued.
After joking about how one of his other employees responded to the chaos, Portnoy said the police ultimately arrived and placed the driver under arrest.
“Danny may need a few stiches [sic] and a couple beers. All in all another day at the Stool,” Portnoy added.

He then ended the post with a jab at Mamdani, writing, “Shoutout Mandami’s [sic] NYC.”
“If it was just me, I would move the company out of New York City because I hate this guy so much,” Portnoy said during an appearance on The Unnamed Show in October 2025. “But I won’t because there’s a lot of people in New York, and I don’t want to change their lifestyle for it.”
More recently, Portnoy has suggested that he could enter New York City politics himself. During a July appearance on Business of Betting, he claimed wealthy donors had approached him about a possible run for mayor and he said he’d “love to” run against Mamdani.
“If I wanted to run for mayor of New York, I could have the biggest war chest probably in the history of political war chests,” Portnoy said. “I have billionaire after billionaire willing to fund a campaign if I was going to do it.”
