Zohran Mamdani made history in the Big Apple on Election Day by defeating Andrew Cuomo in the New York City mayoral race, becoming the youngest person in over a century to hold the position. Now, celebrities from all over the country are weighing in online.

Mamdani’s candidacy faced criticism from both sides of the aisle, with former President Donald Trump among his most vocal detractors.

Rapper 50 Cent woke up on Wednesday, November 5, to share a clip on Instagram, according to Complex, of Mamdani’s now-famous four-word message to Trump after his win, in which the 34-year-old told the president to “turn your volume up” ahead of his victory speech.

50 Cent captioned the video, which has since been deleted: “3 words : No funding coming ! NYC finished,” signaling his disappointment with the outcome.

Actor Michael Rapaport chimed in on X with a GIF of a person shouting, accompanied with text that read “nooooo!!!!”

Real Housewives of New Jersey star Jackie Goldschneider also weighed in, sharing a meme on her Instagram Story — first posted by 50 Cent — of a tombstone reading, “RIP NYC Founded 1620 Died 2025.”

Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy hinted at his disapproval as well, writing on X, “But if this is what the people of NYC want than [sic] so be it. Thank god I don’t live there anymore.”

Actor Scott Baio, who revealed Wednesday, November 5, that he’s been living in Florida for five years, shared a meme of the Statue of Liberty on a trailer with text reading, “Spotted headed down Highway 95 to Florida.”

“As a Floridian, we will take her, the people who voted for a socialist can stay in NYC,” Baio added.

Meanwhile, other celebrities shared their support for Mamdani. After securing his new role, Mamdani posted a clip of a subway train stopping at City Hall with a recording saying, “The next and last stop is City Hall.”

Lupita Nyong’o shared the clip, writing, “Yup!!!!!!!” The actress revealed on Instagram that she has known Zohran “for 20 years.”

“I believe that Zohran Mamdani possesses the personality, skills, and temperament to be an excellent mayor of New York City. The polls are open now and it was an honor to cast my vote for him!🗽🙌🏿,” she wrote on Election Day.

Actor Mark Ruffalo shared the same video, writing, “How sweet it is.”

The Real Housewives of New York star Jessel Taank shared a photo to her Instagram Story of Mamdani following his victory, while Wicked actor Bowen Yang shared a New York Magazine article declaring him the mayor-elect.
