Your 3rd Spot
Since launching in 2022, Your 3rd Spot has become one of Atlanta’s most talked-about social dining experiences, and founder Josh Rossmeisl credits his start as a teenage dishwasher for his “people-first” priorities.
“For me, it’s about remembering where you came from and how I felt as that kid starting out in this business,” says Rossmeisl, who keeps the first check he earned as a dishwasher at Boston Chicken (now Boston Market), 30 years ago.
“Now as a leader in this company, I have a responsibility to serve the people I work with,” he says. “Creating an environment of trust is essential. Our industry is hospitality — it’s literally about taking care of human beings. For me, that begins with taking care of the human beings taking care of our guests.”
Your 3rd Spot blends innovative hospitality, gaming, and a curated dining menu, and it drew more than 300,000 guests in its first year, thanks in part to significant buzz on TikTok. The company also boasts a 4.5-star employee rating on Glassdoor.
“Mentorship is what motivates me most at this stage of my career,” Rossmeisl says. “It’s about noticing the abilities of the people quietly working in the corner, the ones showing up every day and doing good work and not necessarily the loudest voices in the room.”
Rossmeisl is also co-founder and Chief Vision Officer of Your 3rd Spot parent company AMP Up1 Hospitality, where 85% of the company’s leadership started in hourly positions, and many of them have worked with Rossmeisl for more than a decade. His leadership style prioritizes mentorship, promoting from within, and recognizing the quiet, hardworking team members.
“You can’t microwave leadership,” Rossmeisl says. “You have to be bad at something to get good at it. I’ve grown in this work because people gave me the space to learn, and now it’s my turn to do the same for others.”
Despite launching in the wake of the pandemic, Your 3rd Spot has thrived by tapping into a growing demand for meaningful social experiences — and a so-called “third place” outside of the home and office. Rossmeisl and co-founder Doug Warner conceptualized the venue while on a 10-mile walk during the COVID-19 lockdown, recognizing that people were craving connection.
“We were told, ‘You’re crazy!’ But we knew people would gather again—it’s essential to who we are,” Rossmeisl says.
Your 3rd Spot offers a 26,000-square-foot space filled with over 80 social games, from bowling and skee-ball to life-sized Jenga. Guests come for the curated small-plates menu created by Executive Chef Stuart Rogers, a Georgia Grown Executive Chef Award winner, and stay for the immersive, community-driven experience.
Rossmeisl believes in intentional design—even the long lines at the basketball hoops serve a purpose.
“If you have to wait, you’ll turn around and play something new,” he says. “Trying something for the first time creates a memory. That’s what we want to offer—moments that stick with you.”
In 2023, Atlanta Magazine awarded Your 3rd Spot “Best Date Night,” “Best Special Occasion Restaurant,” and “Best New Ice Breaker.” Guests are even driving six hours just to experience it. Now, with the Atlanta location as a successful prototype, expansion is on the horizon.
“We’ve invested in culture, training, and leadership development so that when we grow, we grow the right way,” Rossmeisl says.
