Woman Arrested, Accused of Displaying Gun at Taco Bell Employees Over Long Wait for Food
A woman in Maryland was arrested after threatening Taco Bell employees with a handgun when she became upset over a wait for her food, authorities said.
Ashley Andrews, 30, has been charged with second-degree assault, displaying a handgun to a person, disorderly conduct, and reckless endangerment, according to Law & Crime, citing the Queen Anne’s County Office of the Sheriff.
The alleged incident took place on June 18 at a Taco Bell location in Chester, Maryland. Authorities responded to the fast food establishment after a woman was reportedly “displaying a handgun during a verbal altercation” with staff members, the report said.
Officers located a loaded firearm on Andrews after taking her into custody.
“Staff advised Andrews had become upset over her wait time for her food and during a verbal argument told staff members to meet her outside in the parking lot,” a press release read, per the outlet. “She then lifted her shirt to show her gun and used threatening language towards them.”
The sheriff’s office used surveillance footage and video from an employee’s cell phone to confirm Andrews was the suspect.
According to authorities, the footage showed Andrews “lifting her shirt to display a handgun and placing her hand on the grip of the gun while arguing with staff.”
Andrews posted $5,000 bail one day after her arrest, according to Law & Crime, and invoked her right to a speedy trial. She’s due in court on July 23.
