It’s nearly impossible to forget Britney Spears’ failed marriage to Kevin Federline — especially for professional skiers.
The pop star, 44, and her ex-husband, 47, were referenced on the Monday, February 9, broadcast of 2026 Winter Olympics coverage, according to E! News, because of a well-known trick among skiers.
The outlet reported that an Olympics announcer explained during a men’s freestyle skiing event that the couple’s tumultuous relationship, which ended in a divorce that was finalized in July 2007, inspired a popular freeskiing trick called the “K-Fed.”
The move, per E!, is described as a frontside switch-up followed by a backside 270 off the rail because “it was popularized around the time Britney Spears and Kevin Federline were in the news, so it became a joke,” the announcer said.
Some forums say that skier Tyler Barnes was the person who originally coined the informal ski term.
Another related ski move is reportedly called “The Britney,” which is similar to the K-Fed, but has the skier move in the opposite direction on the rails.
Spears and Federline, who announced their engagement after just three months of dating and officially tied the knot in September 2004, share sons Sean Preston, 20, and Jayden James, 19.
The opening ceremony of the Milano Cortina Games took place on Friday, February 6, at San Siro Stadium in Milan, Italy.
The Olympics will run for just over two weeks through February 22 before picking back up in March for the Paralympics.
