Eric James, a high school principal from West Virginia, was arrested after being accused of setting up hidden cameras in the girls’ locker room to watch students undress, according to a new lawsuit.
Eleven students have filed a suit against James, 53, alleging that he installed four cameras in girls’ changing areas while he was principal at Brooke High School in Wellsburg, West Virginia, the Daily Mail reported.
Recording devices were found in the girls’ PE locker room, a dressing room used by the school’s dance team, and the girls’ varsity locker room, the sheriff’s office told Fox 8.

According to one student, James would “wait for her at the locker room door, let her in and then disappear,” presumably to “go view the live footage” while she undressed in view of the camera.
The principal’s “conduct” was also reported multiple times between 2000 and 2018, while he was a gym teacher at Cameron High School in Cameron, West Virginia, the complaint revealed.
“The resulting invasion of the bodily privacy of Plaintiffs and other students was not momentary. Every day that the devices remained concealed and operational exposed children to additional secret observation and recording,” the lawsuit states, per Daily Mail.
James was booked into the Northern Regional Jail on a $100,000 bond. He was charged with two felonies, violating the state’s wiretapping law and entering without breaking. James has yet to enter a plea and is due in court on Wednesday, September 16.
