Spring break is around the corner, and many travelers will return home and head straight to the clinic for treatment of a variety of common post-vacation ailments.

According to the clinicians at WellNow Urgent Care, some spring breakers will come home with some truly weird health issues, but the most common complaints include gastrointestinal illnesses, or stomach bugs, as well as sunburns and skin damage.

Other common issues include respiratory infections like the common cold and flu; dehydration and heat exhaustion; injuries from sprains, strains and accidents; eye irritation or infections; bug bites mainly from ticks and mosquitos; and travel-related illnesses like jet lag and fatigue.

Some of these spring break maladies can be easily prevented. Travelers can avoid sunburn with sunscreen, hats, or shade umbrellas, and they can stave off dehydration and heat exhaustion by drinking plenty of water and seeking shade. Eye irritations are often the result of exposure to sand or seawater, and swim goggles may help.
