Newly released video footage appears to show that Nolan Wells was not on board the boat his friends took back to the mainland on the 4th of July.

According to video obtained by The Officer Tatum Show and published on Monday, July 27, the footage shows seven people on the boat as it prepared to leave Mississippi’s Horn Island, but Nolan isn’t visible.

The video backs up what two witnesses allegedly told investigators — that Nolan was still on the island when the boat returned to the mainland.

As Globe previously reported, the 18-year-old was reported missing on the night of July 4 after his friends noticed he never returned from the island. Two days later, his body was discovered facedown near the shore of Horn Island.

Nolan’s parents, Christine Wells-Wonsley and Elmore Wonsley, commissioned their own private investigation, along with an independent autopsy apart from the state of Mississippi’s, and hired civil rights attorney Benjamin Crump to represent them.

The preliminary reports from the independent autopsy stated that Nolan’s cause of death was “undetermined pending further investigation.”

Crump previously criticized the state’s investigation of Nolan’s death and said they were “derelict in their duties,” but Mississippi officials were quick to push back on his claims.

Senator Jeremy England called Crump’s comments “completely unfair” and told Fox News Digital on July 23 that he knew many of the officials working on the case “personally and professionally, and they have the utmost integrity and they want to get the facts correct and get out there.”

The investigation into Nolan’s death remains ongoing and the results from the state’s autopsy have not yet been released.
