U.S. ambassador to Greece Kimberly Guilfoyle has reportedly been asked to resign amid allegations of improper conduct.
On Tuesday, October 13, the Associated Press reported that PresidentDonald Trump‘s new press secretary, Katie Zacharia, said Guilfoyle, 57, had been asked to resign as the U.S. ambassador to Greece after allegations that she “engaged in improper and possibly illegal conduct.”
While it is unclear whether Guilfoyle has actually resigned, Zacharia, 41, said she “has been a wonderful asset to the team, and we wish her well.”
“We’re looking at it,” Trump told reporters at the White House on Monday, October 12. “We’re not happy.”

Earlier, AP reported that the commander in chief, 80, and Secretary of State Marco Rubio were reportedly “extremely pissed off” by the allegations.
According to the AP, since September, The Wall Street Journal has “reported questionable conduct by Guilfoyle, including making an alleged threat to a host country official, accepting improper gifts and services, and offering to use her influence inside the administration in return for the payment of a large credit card bill.”
“She was so desperate for that $100,000. It was a quid pro quo,” Deters, 63, told NBC News on October 9. “She said I could ask her for anything and everything in Trump world. There was no request too big.”

Deters said Guilfoyle asked if he could wire the money directly to American Express to avoid leaving a paper trail. The Wall Street Journal reported that it reviewed messages corroborating the allegations.
However, Guilfoyle’s attorney disputed the messages’ authenticity. Deters told NBC News he did not make the payment.
In an October 11 statement to the AP, Guilfoyle’s lawyers denied any wrongdoing on her part. They claimed the money she sought from Deters was payment for public appearances and speaking engagements that took place before her nomination as ambassador.
