Kimberly Guilfoyle Draws Attention With Plunging Dress at Orthodox Monastery, Overshadows Visit

Kimberly Guilfoyle‘s latest diplomatic stop is drawing attention for what she wore, not what she said.

The 57-year-old U.S. ambassador to Greece visited the Ormylia Monastery in Halkidiki on Thursday, July 30, according to a report from Greek City Times.

For the visit, she wore a fitted turquoise knee-length dress with a plunging neckline and pointed-toe stilettos. In a photo taken with a group of monks and nuns, who were covered from head to toe except for their faces and hands, Guilfoyle’s outfit stood in stark contrast to the monastery’s modest dress standards, making her appear notably underdressed.

“I was deeply moved to visit the Ormylia Foundation and Monastery this week,” Guilfoyle said, per the outlet. “I met with their dedicated volunteers, including Abbot Elisaios, Dr. Doumas, Brother Charlie, and the remarkable Reverend Mother Nikodimi and her sisters. Their work healing bodies through the Medical Center’s life-saving screenings and nurturing souls through faith is a beautiful example of compassion in action. I am grateful for the partnership between the United States and this extraordinary community.”

Per the report, the Ormylia Monastery Foundation — founded in 1982 in the Halkidiki region of northern Greece — is known for its charitable and cultural work. Through its Panagia Philanthropini Centre, the foundation provides free preventive healthcare services to women in underserved rural communities. The foundation also operates the Art Diagnosis Centre, which uses advanced scientific methods to preserve, study and document Byzantine art and other cultural treasures in collaboration with universities and research institutions.

Orthodox monasteries commonly enforce modest dress codes for visitors. St. Anthony’s Greek Orthodox Monastery in southern Arizona maintains a strict dress code for visitors. Women are asked to wear loose-fitting, long-sleeved tops that fully cover the chest and neck, long skirts or dresses without deep slits, and head scarves that cover the hair and neck. The monastery also asks visitors to avoid high heels, open-toed sandals, sheer stockings and visible body piercings as a sign of respect for the sacred grounds.

Guilfoyle, a former Fox News host and prosecutor, was nominated by President Donald Trump to serve as U.S. ambassador to Greece after playing a prominent role in his 2024 presidential campaign. Before her diplomatic appointment, she was married to California Gov. Gavin Newsom from 2001 to 2006 and was later engaged to Donald Trump Jr., though the pair ended their relationship in 2024.

While Guilfoyle’s visit highlighted the monastery’s charitable mission, it was her eye-catching outfit that ended up drawing the most attention.
