A late-night search for a bathroom ended with an SUV inside a Texas grocery store after police say a man deliberately drove through the entrance and smashed the glass doors because he wanted to use the restroom.
Rosenberg Police issued an official statement on Sunday, September 27, that the 60-year-old man, whose name has not been released, was arrested following the incident at a Kroger in Rosenberg, about 35 miles southwest of Houston.
Police said the crash happened shortly before 4:30 a.m. Sunday while the store was closed. “On Sunday, September 27th, at approximately 0428, a known male individual intentionally accelerated into Kroger, causing extensive damage to the pharmacy entrance.”
Investigators said the man was upset that the doors were locked and told officers he “needed to use the restroom.”
Photos released by police showed shattered glass scattered around the entrance, and badly damaged metal door frames.
The SUV stopped inside the store near a Halloween candy display.
