A dramatic video appears to show a miracle as a young woman in Guatemala waking up at her own wake after her family mistakenly believed she had died.
According to The Sun, the viral video shows 15-year-old Yuleidy Ixcotoyac, dressed in black pants and a red T-shirt sitting up in a coffin as people hug her and help her to her feet. The girl’s mother, Lesvia Ríos, told the outlet that she was weeping over the casket when she leaned over and noticed movement inside.
“I kept saying she was alive; she wasn’t dead,” she said. “When I was crying on top of her casket, we opened the window and she was moving, she was waking up and suddenly she sat up.”

While the video sounds shocking, the circumstances surrounding the teen’s apparent death help explain what happened. Earlier in the day, the teen’s father, Abraham Ixcotoyac, who is an evangelical pastor, was driving his daughter to get medical attention when she passed out in the car. Rather than continue the journey to the medical center, Abraham took the girl’s pulse and checked her breathing.
He claimed neither was present and concluded that his daughter had died. No medical professional evaluated the teen before Abraham organized a wake for his daughter roughly eight hours after she passed out.
Speaking to The Sun, Yuleidy explained the last thing she remembered before waking up in her own casket.
“My heart started hurting really badly; it felt heavy and then I blacked out, like I fainted,” she said.
