Steve Carell and Alice Cooper may not be biologically related, but their surprising resemblance has led to an unlikely friendship, according to sources, who say they’ve actually spent time together since their chance meeting at a restaurant decades ago.
“They have been told time and time again that they look so much alike, and it cracks them up,” a source exclusively tells Globe. “Steve and Alice agree there are similarities – Alice looks like Steve with long hair and makeup, and Alice has a whisper of that Carell smirk, and that’s probably why they get along so well.”
While Cooper, 77 – born Vincent Damon Furnier – is “one of the biggest musical stars on the planet” known for hits like “Poison” and “Schools Out for Summer” and is still “touring like a fiend,” Carell, 62, is widely recognized for his comedic chops after playing Michael Scott on NBC’s The Office.
However, according to the source, “Steve likes to think he has musical talent too.”
“He can sing a mean Taylor Swift song, which he’s already proven,” jokes the source, referring to Carell’s famed 2014 interview on ABC’s Popcorn with Peter Travers when he sang a straight-faced rendition of “Shake It Off.”
As for his film side, the source says that Carell would “love to play Alice in a biopic” one day as he’s already “got the looks down pat.”

During a 2022 appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, the Foxcatcher actor opened up about meeting the rocker years prior when he was “waiting tables” in Chicago.
“I was working at a restaurant and he came in and yeah, he was Alice Cooper,” Carell said at the time. “He couldn’t have been nicer. Sweetest guy.”
Aside from being entertainers who share a striking resemblance, the pair also have something else in common – they’re both family men.
“I don’t spend a lot of time playing golf these days. I’m either working or with my family in some way, shape or form,” the Despicable Me star admitted in an interview published by Houma Today.
He’s been married to wife Nancy, 62, since 1995 and they share two kids, Elisabeth, 24, and John, 21.
“That’s the way I want it,” he confessed. “That’s the way it has to be.”

As for Cooper, in a 2019 sit-down with Billboard, he spoke fondly of his wife, Sheryl Goddard, who he’s been married to for nearly 50 years.
“It’s almost hard to do the show without her,” he revealed. “It’s almost like Burns and Allen; we’re backstage putting makeup on, talking, laughing.”
Goddard is a professional dancer and choreographer who frequently performs alongside her husband on stage – something that makes it easy for them to spend lots of time together when he hits the road to entertain fans across the country.
“We’ve both been in show business all our lives. When we’re on stage she’s not Sheryl, my wife; she’s the character and I’m the character,” Cooper explained. “We don’t look at each other as husband and wife on stage. But the great thing is, afterwards, we’re on tour. We’re never apart. It’s great.”
