Nolan Wells’ Friends Raise More Than $130K for Legal Defense Amid Ongoing Scrutiny

A fundraiser intended to support the legal efforts of Nolan Wells‘ best friends amid ongoing scrutiny has raised more than $130,000.

Warren Hudson, Jax Pitalo and Morgan Seymour have all faced accusations surrounding the mysterious death of their best friend, who was found dead in July after being reported missing. Despite no criminal charges being filed against them, the teenagers are raising money on GiveSendGo “for the sole purpose of fighting” the rumors.

“Our first goal is to raise money to defend these friends against incoming wrongful death actions filed by Attorney Ben Crump and his team,” the fundraiser explains. “Our second goal is to fund a robust legal team to sue for the litany of slander and libel being spread by not only Crump, but also many social media influencers, news outlets, and local provocateurs who know better.” (Crump represents Wells’ family.)

As Globe previously reported, Wells’ body was discovered days after he went missing following a Fourth of July celebration at Mississippi’s Horn Island. His cause of death has not yet been revealed, but a private autopsy conducted by the family did not rule out foul play.

“No friend should have to grieve the loss of a brother,” the GiveSendGo, which has a goal of $200,000, states. “But instead of being allowed to mourn, what followed was an unprecedented online campaign of accusations, harassment, threats, and defamation.”

Hudson, for his part, appeared on conservative commentator Brandon Tatum‘s podcast in July, where he claimed that Wells was left behind at the island at his own request. According to Hudson, Wells was “cradling” a girl the last time he saw him on July 4.

Hudson reported his friend missing later that evening, and Wells’ body was found two days later.
