Morgan Wallen On The Lam

Morgan Wallen was the big winner at the recent CMA Awards but was nowhere in sight on country music’s biggest night!

Industry insiders say the winner of the coveted Entertainer of the Year is more concerned about keeping a low profile than in basking in the spotlight as he prepares for a different appearance — in a courtroom!

The 31-year-old Love Somebody singer was arrested and charged with three felony counts of reckless endangerment in April after throwing a chair off the sixth-floor balcony of fellow country star Eric Church’s downtown Nashville bar, nearly clocking two metro police officers on the street below.

“Morgan’s people have made it clear to him that he needs to appear serious about the charges, and whooping it up in Nashville could send a bad signal to a judge,” discloses a source. “He’s treading VERY carefully!”

With a December court date looming, and a potential six-year sentence, Morgan skipped the Nov. 20 extravaganza.

“CMA officials knew he wasn’t going to show because he turned down an offer to perform,” reveals the source.

Another insider suspects the embarrassed star — who has publicly apologized for the boneheaded stunt that led to his arrest — couldn’t face the scrutiny!

“Morgan wanted to dodge the CMA Awards since he knew he was going to be barraged with questions about his court case,” the second source says.

“Even with his high-priced lawyers, he knows he’s looking at serving some time and, frankly, that scares the crap out of him!”
