Melissa Gilbert addressed fans following her husband Timothy Busfield’s release from jail, sharing a message on social media after what she described as a difficult period for her family.
The Little House on the Prairie alum, 61, posted the message via Instagram on Monday, January 26, thanking supporters for the messages she and her husband have received.
“I’m sending you all my love and gratitude during this extraordinarily difficult time,” Gilbert wrote. “Not only for Tim, me and our family, but in the collective heaviness so many of us seem to be carrying right now.”

Gilbert acknowledged that recent events have been overwhelming and said that the situation has prompted her to slow down and focus on what matters most.
“Stepping back from the noise, the news, and even our daily responsibilities from time to time gives us space to recharge and reset,” she continued.
In the post, Gilbert also thanked followers for their patience and support, writing that she plans to take things slowly in the coming weeks.
“I’ll be easing back into things thoughtfully and with care, moving forward one step at a time,” she wrote. “More to come.”

The message was shared on the official Instagram account for Modern Prairie, Gilbert’s clothing brand, and came nearly a week after Busfield, 68, was released from jail.
The former West Wing actor has been charged with two counts of criminal sexual contact of a minor and one count of child abuse related to two alleged incidents involving twin boys on the set of The Cleaning Lady between 2022 and 2024. Busfield has denied the charges.
