MAGA Festival With Kid Rock Canceled After Sales Plan Backfires and Only 6 VIP Tickets Were Sold

The upcoming Freedom Fest, a conservative political event in Kentucky that was to feature Kid Rock, was canceled after reportedly selling just six VIP tickets.

Event organizer Eric Deters announced in a Facebook post (that appears to have been deleted) on Monday, September 21, that Freedom Fest was canceled days before it was intended to take place on Saturday, September 26.

“I am never ever, ever, ever, ever doing this event again. Ever,” Deters said, per Newsweek.

Deters, 63, previously called Freedom Fest the “best MAGA event.” However, he said in the Facebook video that he had to cancel the event due to poor VIP ticket sales.

“When I put together Patriot State Freedom Fest, I put it together with the game plan and the idea that I could pay for it with the VIP sales of $1,000 from these hundred people that I interact with on a regular basis that have money,” Deters said, per Newsweek.

“It’s Monday morning. I got my guy who’s setting up the ticket sales … I said how many have bought a ticket?” he continued. “And he said, you can’t make this up. Are you ready for the drum roll? Only six people had bought a VIP ticket.”

Duane “Dog the Bounty Hunter” Chapman and Fox News personality Joe Concha were also slated to appear at the festival, per Entertainment Weekly.

After the event’s cancellation, Deters seemed irritated that national media picked up the news.

In a Facebook video posted Tuesday, September 22, Deters said that the media ignores “countless other stories but contact me about the cancelation [sic] of Freedom Fest solely to attempt to dig me and Trump supporters,” adding: “Its [sic] hysterical.”

Deters added that the people who didn’t buy VIP tickets just “care so much about money” — and that it has nothing to do with whether or not they support President Donald Trump. Deters insisted that they are still behind the 80-year-old president.

The event has reportedly drawn crowds of thousands in the past, with multiple conservative speakers in attendance.
