The legal fight surrounding Massachusetts mom Lindsay Clancy‘s mistrial has taken another turn, with the attorney for the jury’s lone holdout sharply criticizing her defense team’s efforts to investigate his client.
Edward Paltzik, who represents holdout juror Michael Desronvil, took to X to respond after defense attorney Kevin Reddington asked the court for an inquiry.
Reddington had asked Judge William Sullivan to authorize an inquiry into three things — Desronvil’s jury questionnaire, his alleged cellphone use during deliberations, and an alleged domestic violence incident from 2021, as previously reported by Globe.

Desronvil, 48, was the lone juror who did not join the other 11 in voting that Lindsay was not guilty by reason of lack of criminal responsibility. The deadlock led Sullivan to declare a mistrial on September 4.
“The ‘Looney Tunes’ motion filed yesterday by Kevin ‘Shooter McGavin’ Reddington to investigate Michael is not just an attack on Michael for being the courageous lone holdout juror,” Paltzik wrote as a response to Reddington’s motion on Tuesday, September 22.
Paltzik called the request “a full-frontal attack on the U.S. Constitution” and argued that investigating jurors because of their votes could discourage people from independently weighing evidence. “If the new normal is that jurors are going to face brutal reprisals for disagreeing with a defense attorney, you can kiss the Sixth Amendment goodbye,” he warned.

He ended his response by fiercely defending Desronvil: “Kevin Reddington’s disgusting motion to investigate Michael is worthy of nothing but universal condemnation. This is certainly not the final word from us on this subject, but merely our first words. It’s all going to backfire spectacularly on sore loser Reddington.”
As Globe reported earlier, Reddington’s filing asks the court to examine whether Desronvil answered jury-selection questions truthfully and whether he used his phone during deliberations.
Sullivan has impounded the juror questionnaires but has not yet ruled on the request for an investigation.
Lindsay, 36, admitted killing the three children she shared with ex-husband Patrick Clancy in January 2023, Cora, 5, Dawson, 3, and Callan, 8 months, but maintained she was not criminally responsible because she was suffering from postpartum psychosis.
Prosecutors argued she planned her actions and understood they were wrong. Her defense has separately asked that the case be dismissed on double jeopardy grounds, as reported by The Boston Globe.
Prosecutors have not announced whether they will pursue another trial. Clancy is due back in court on September 29.
During the interview, he spoke about starting a new family and the PTSD treatment he underwent while grieving his three kids. Patrick said the treatment that helped him most was EMDR, or Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, a therapy commonly used for PTSD.
He explained that it forced him to confront traumatic memories he had spent years trying to avoid. After several sessions, he said the episodes of “waking up screaming” and the “horrible dreams” had mostly stopped, calling the change “like a miracle.”
Lindsay has not publicly commented on the case and did not testify or take the stand during her trial in Massachusetts.
Throughout the trial, Reddington argued that Lindsay had been failed by the doctors and health care system she turned to for help, saying she was desperately seeking treatment but never received the level of care she needed.
