Kim Kardashian Says North Is In a ‘Brand Building Class,’ ‘Has a lot of Rules’ Despite Public Perception

Kim Kardashian is sharing some insight into her daughter North West‘s life.

The Skims founder, 45, appeared as a guest on the Wednesday, January 21, episode of sister Khloé Kardashian‘s Khloé in Wonder Land podcast and explained that while she lets the 12-year-old make bold fashion choices, North isn’t allowed to do whatever she wants.

“I think like the one misconception that people might have is like, ‘Oh, she’s trying to be her bestie and lets her get away with a lot.’ Like, no. Northy actually has a lot of rules,” Kim admitted. “The one area is I do let her express herself, and I do let her do that. I love her for that, and she would do it, you know, regardless.”

The reality TV star — who also shares kids Saint, 10, Chicago, 7, and Psalm, 6, with Kanye West, 48 — explained that the tween is homeschooled and takes “realistic courses” on “things that she’s really into.”

“She has a brand building class, you know, it’s like an actual course and a curriculum,” Kim shared. “She had an idea of making hats, and making jewelry, and all the things she wanted to make, so we made it a course.”

“And she has to do the web design, and she has to do the budgeting, and she has to go to the stores and get materials and sewing,” Kim continued. “And we do like full fashion courses.”

Following in her dad’s footsteps, Kim said North is also enjoying exploring music as part of her education.

“At home, she’ll do an eight-hour music studio session where she’s producing and writing,” Kim noted, explaining that she will have North “writing out all of her lyrics” for spelling tests.

As Globe previously reported, North released a snippet of a track she worked on with Kanye called “Piercing on My Hand (Ye Version)” on her Instagram Story last week.

Additionally, Kim has faced heavy criticism over the last few months for letting North rock an edgy style consisting of fake piercings, tattoos, icy blue hair, grillz and a dermal piercing.

On the podcast, Kim said North has long enjoyed experimenting with her look.

“I have pictures of her when we’re in first grade, pre-k, where she’d come with like, a fake septum ring, and she has her green braids, and she has pink braids, she’s always loved the colored braids in her hair since she was little,” Kim stated. “She really is who she is and always has been that girl, and so I nurture her.”
