Katie Gaudreau Says Late Brother Matthew Told Her She Was Pregnant in a ‘Very Vivid’ Dream

Katie Gaudreau says her late brothers, Johnny and Matthew, are still with her in spirit.

Katie, 27, is about 29 weeks pregnant with her first child with husband Devin Joyce, nearly two years after NHL star Johnny and his brother Matthew died while biking after being hit by an alleged drunk driver in 2024. The accident occurred the day before Katie’s wedding was supposed to take place.

Speaking to People in an article published on Friday, May 8, the mom-to-be got emotional, saying she felt “shook up a little bit” recalling a dream she had about Matthew, who was 29 at the time of his death.

“He had a baby for me, he was giving me a baby,” Katie explained, saying she didn’t know she was pregnant at the time of the dream, which she described as “very, very vivid … to the point where I woke up and was like, ‘What happened? This is not real life.’ ”

At the time, she and her husband were having trouble conceiving and she was told she may need surgery if she wanted to get pregnant. The day before she was to have a visit with a fertility doctor, she discovered she was expecting.

She joked that, even in her dreams, her brother “just really likes to stress me out.”

She’s still waiting to find out if another message Matthew gave her in the dream will come true.

“I really felt my brothers, especially Matthew, a lot in this pregnancy,” she said. “We’re not finding out the gender, but in my dream, he told me the gender, so I’m curious to see if it was true or not.”

As Globe previously reported, Sean Higgins, the man accused of killing the brothers, is now seeking to have his charges, including first-degree aggravated manslaughter, reckless vehicular homicide, leaving the scene of a fatal accident and tampering with physical evidence, dismissed.
