Kanye West unleashes his anger on former mother-in-law Kris Jenner in his explosive new documentary, In Whose Name?
“I’d rather be dead than to be on medication,” West — who reveals in the film that he is “off his meds,” seemingly for his bipolar disorder — tells Jenner in the clip, which was recorded during the film’s premiere and posted on Instagram by The Shade Room on Friday, September 19.
The all-access documentary was filmed with West’s permission over six years beginning in 2018, which is when the argument took place, according to People.
“No one from the family has taken any responsibility for my hospital visit, but if you want to go online, that’s 50 percent of what people say at least. Or am I lying?” continues the rapper, seemingly referencing his 2016 hospitalization following what was described as a “psychiatric emergency” in a dispatch call obtained by TMZ.
“It doesn’t matter,” Jenner, 69, calmly replies, sending West into a rage.

“It do matter! It does matter! It does matter!” he screams, jumping up and down as Jenner stands at the counter in what appears to be the Calabasas, California, mansion he shared with then-wife Kim Kardashian. Jenner’s boyfriend, Corey Gamble, is seated at the table behind him and briefly tries to interrupt.
“I haven’t finished the sentence,” the momager says as the “Jesus Walks” singer gathers his things and leaves the room. “It matters to us and you. It doesn’t matter what the internet says. It matters what we think, Ye.”
West, now 48, returns and demands, “Well what do you think? Did you have an effect on my mental health?”
“Yes. Yes. Yes. I’m saying yes,” the reality star tearfully admits. “And I love you. I love you. I don’t want you to be not perfect. I love you. And I want my daughter to love you the way you want her to love you.”

West rarely appeared on the Kardashians’ reality show and has publicly objected to his four children with Kim being filmed.
He and Kardashian split after more than six years of marriage in 2021. Their divorce was finalized in 2022.
West’s downward spiral continued and much of his erratic behavior and antisemetic rants — which led to the loss of multiple lucrative business deals — was reportedly captured in the film, according to The Guardian.
