Jelly Roll accused luxury retailer Louis Vuitton of treating him like a criminal while shopping in Australia.
“Hey man, the Louis Vuitton in Sydney, legitimately just treated us like we were finna come in here and rob that place,” Jelly Roll, 40, laughed as he shared the story via his Instagram Story on Wednesday, November 5. “I have never been looked at more like a… Listin, the last time I was looked at like a criminal this bad, I was an actual criminal.”
Jelly Roll – real name Jason DeFord – is currently down under as part of his world tour. The “Son of a Sinner” artist has come a long way since spending time behind bars before skyrocketing to fame in the country music world.
“I hadn’t hit my last growth spurt. I was charged as an adult years before I could buy a beer, lease an apartment, get a pack of cigarettes,” he told Billboard in June 2023 of being arrested for aggravated robbery at age 16. “I feel like the justice system at that point kind of parked me on my only set path.”

He was locked up again for dealing drugs at the age of 23, but ultimately turned his life around after the birth of his daughter, Bailee in 2008.
“I immediately was like, ‘I’ve got to do something. I’ve got to quit this s**t. I gotta to figure it out,” he told Joe Rogan in May 2023.
Earlier this summer, Jelly Roll was able to travel overseas for the first time when he toured Europe with pal Post Malone.
“I want to be an inspiration for people who are now where I used to be — to let them know that change is truly possible,” Jelly Roll told the Tennessee Board of Parole in April, according to the Associated Press.
