The grandson of former president John F. Kennedy responded after reports surfaced that friends want to set him up with the newly single New York congresswoman, according to a New York Post article published Monday, September 7. Schlossberg, 33, was quick to play down his chances with Ocasio-Cortez, 36.
“I respect her a lot — she can do way better than me!” Schlossberg said, per the outlet.

According to the article, Schlossberg’s friends have been hoping to arrange a meeting between the two following his unsuccessful run for Congress earlier this year. The report, citing an earlier Daily News report, said his pals believe a meeting could potentially lead to either a personal connection or even an opportunity for Schlossberg to work in Ocasio-Cortez’s New York office.
Still, Schlossberg didn’t appear to be taking the matchmaking chatter too seriously.
“What a silly story,” he said, according to the outlet.
One source familiar with both Democrats suggested the pair might have more in common than Schlossberg thinks.

“Those two would actually get along great together,” the source said, according to the New York Post. “They believe government is a force of good. They’d at least be good friends.”
Per the outlet, Schlossberg, who publicly said in June that he was searching for a “soulmate,” lost the Democratic primary for New York’s 12th Congressional District in June.
According to the report, Ocasio-Cortez is also single after her longtime relationship with Riley Roberts ended. The pair met while attending Boston University and became engaged in 2022.
She and Schlossberg also have a connection that predates their respective political careers. Ocasio-Cortez interned in the office of Schlossberg’s late uncle, Sen. Ted Kennedy, while she was a student at Boston University, the outlet reported.
