Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Sparks Speculation She Split From Riley Roberts Before Freezing Her Eggs

New York Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez reportedly split from ex-fiancé Riley Roberts before deciding to freeze her eggs.

Leigh Ann Caldwell, Puck’s Chief Washington Correspondent, reported on Tuesday, August 11, that Ocasio-Cortez, 36, and Roberts called it quits, though the timeline remains unclear.

“I was told by a reputable Democratic source about 18 months ago that her engagement was called off,” Caldwell shared via X. “AOC stopped wearing her engagement ring several months before that.”

TMZ also reported the former couple had gone their separate ways, pointing to Ocasio-Cortez and Roberts last being photographed at the Met Gala in 2021.

However, one user on X pointed out that Manhattan’s Black Iron Burger shared a photo of Ocasio-Cortez with an unidentified man in May. Meanwhile, another suggested she and Roberts were recently seen walking together — although the subjects in the photo cannot be identified as it only shows the back of their heads.

Ocasio-Cortez — who was the youngest woman ever elected to Congress at age 29 — has been documenting her egg-freezing journey on social media.

“I want to share with you all a decision that is very personal that I have made that has taken me time to consider, weigh and save up for,” she said in an Instagram Story video on Saturday, August 8, per Us Weekly. “And it is of a sensitive matter and a personal matter and usually I keep my private life quite private, but I have made the decision to start freezing my eggs.”

She has since gone into detail about having to pay out of pocket to preserve her fertility, as insurance does not cover any costs associated with freezing eggs.
