Is Donald Trump Jr. Hosting a Reboot of ‘The Apprentice’? Amazon Weighs in on Rumors

Rumors have been swirling that Amazon may be rebooting The Apprentice, this time with Donald Trump Jr. as the host, and a spokesperson for the streamer has finally responded.

On Wednesday, April 29, The Wall Street Journal reported that a source claimed that Amazon execs were considering casting President Donald Trump’s eldest son, Don Jr., in the role of host if the reality show was brought back.

However, a statement obtained by People the following day shut down the claims.

“Any reporting on details of the show or names of potential hosts would be purely speculative,” the statement said, adding that a reboot of the series is not in active development.

A rep for Amazon also told the publication, “Since our acquisition of MGM, we have had preliminary internal discussions about what’s next for The Apprentice as a property.”

Just last month Amazon began streaming episodes of the original series when the commander-in-chief, 79, was the host. He starred in the first 14 seasons of the show from 2004 to 2015.

While it started as a show featuring regular business contestants, in season 8 it evolved into The Celebrity Apprentice, where celebrities would compete for a charity of their choosing.

The series featured plenty of well-known stars, including the late Joan Rivers, Piers Morgan, Khloé Kardashian, Bret Michaels, Arsenio Hall and more.
