Hugh Jackman Reportedly Giving Ryan Reynolds the ‘Cold Shoulder’ as ‘Tension’ Builds Between Them

Hollywood’s favorite friendship may be dwindling, sources told celebrity journalist Rob Shuter for the Sunday, January 18, installment of his Naughty But Nice Substack.

“Hugh’s been unusually quiet around Ryan lately; people are whispering he’s stepping back for his own sanity,” said a source, adding that the Deadpool & Wolverine costars’ bromance is not what it used to be.

One source told Shuter that the signs were “subtle at first,” including minor blips like a missed text here and there, but lately, “those close to them can feel the tension.”

The drama seems to stem from Reynolds and wife Blake Lively’s ongoing legal drama with Justin Baldoni following drama on the set of the 2024 film It Ends with Us.

As the on-set scandal continues to make headlines long after the Colleen Hoover novel was adapted for the big screen, “Hugh doesn’t want to be caught in the middle,” claimed a source. “He’s loyal, but even he has limits when it comes to messy legal battles.”

One source claimed that the former Music Man star, 57, “hasn’t been returning [Ryan’s] calls” despite Reynolds, 49, “texting, calling, even trying to set plans.” The insider also pointed out that they were all supposed to see Jackman’s girlfriend Sutton Foster perform in a recent concert, but Jackman opted to go alone.

According to one source, Reynolds is “visibly frustrated” behind the scenes, adding: “Hugh’s giving him the cold shoulder.”

A potential falling out between Jackman and Reynolds would mirror what allegedly happened with Lively, 38, and former best friend Taylor Swift amid the ongoing It Ends With Us drama.

After Swift, 36, was served a subpoena from Baldoni’s lawyers, their friendship appeared to sour, and multiple reports claimed that the relationship was no longer what it used to be.

A source said in June that “Blake has stopped trying to reach out” after allegedly feeling shut out by the Life of a Showgirl artist.

“She’s heartbroken, but she knows it’s time to let go,” the source said of Lively. “Taylor’s not coming back.”
