Howard Stern Archive Channel Dropped From SiriusXM Months After He Laid Off Roughly 50 Employees

Howard Stern‘s archive channel has reportedly been dropped by SiriusXM.

According to a report from The U.S. Sun published on Friday, August 28, Howard 101 will no longer be on the air as of September 1 — and what seems like adding salt to the wound, it’s being replaced by Stern rival Andy Cohen.

Stern, 72, will still have his Howard 100 station on the satellite radio network, which airs new content, but it was recently cut back to just one live show a week. Howard 101 broadcasts all of the shock jock’s older content, but that’s coming to an end.

As Globe previously reported, Stern laid off roughly 50 employees through two rounds of layoffs earlier this year – several of those worked for Howard 101. Plus, the Private Parts star has been struggling with the idea of ending the archive channel.

“Howard has begrudgingly accepted that it’s time to scale things back, but now there are all these rumors that [the Howard 101 channel] may end up flat out cancelled, and that’s doing nothing for his mood,” a source told The U.S. Sun earlier this month on August 14.

The source added that Stern’s problem with the idea of ending the channel stemmed from the fact that he “wanted to go out on his terms.”

“Having to play this waiting game where he feels like the bosses are holding his future in their hands and capriciously deciding his fate is a nightmare,” the source explained.

While Stern recently signed a new contract for his live broadcast channel, he reportedly will end The Howard Stern Show entirely once the contract expires in 2028.
