After the Lindsay Clancy trial ended in a mistrial on September 4, a GoFundMe for the 36-year-old’s parents has a new goal of $3 million. The fund, started by Brandee Mulligan, surpassed the $1 million mark on August 24, as Globe previously reported.

The fund was started to help Clancy’s parents, Mike and Paula Musgrove, with the financial burden of supporting their daughter while she was on trial for the January 2023 murder of her three young children, Cora, 5, Dawson, 3, and Callan, 8 months.

“For more than three years, Mike and Paula have shown up for Lindsay. They have attended her court proceedings and relocated from their Connecticut home to Massachusetts so they can be close to their daughter,” reads part of a statement posted on the GoFundMe page on August 19. “Paula is retired. Mike is a photographer. They have spent years absorbing the travel, lodging, and living costs required to remain close to their daughter, drawing down savings they spent a lifetime building.”

In an update posted to the page in the wake of the mistrial declaration on September 4, the fund’s founder Mulligan wrote: “I’ve decided to raise the goal of this fundraiser since this process has been extended, so is the time Paula and Mike will remain away from their home, continuing to carry the costs that come with being there for their daughter every day. The original purpose of this fundraiser hasn’t changed — it’s simply to take one thing off their plate while they continue to show up for their family. If they have to keep showing up longer, I want to make sure the support does too. Thank each and everyone one of you for showing up for this family. Let’s do this.”

So far, supporters from around the world, including Australia and Scotland, have contributed $1,172,579. Mulligan stated in an Instagram post that she is not related to the Musgrove or Clancy families, but that the fund is the “only authorized and verified GoFundMe acknowledged by Lindsay’s parents.” The page states that Mulligan does not have access to the money, and that it all goes directly to the Musgroves. On her personal social media page, Mulligan regularly speaks out about the Clancy trial, even sharing posts criticizing Clancy’s ex-husband Patrick Clancy.
