The father of slain Texas teen Austin Metcalf is speaking out after comments were made on The View about the case that resulted in Karmelo Anthony being convicted of murder.
“They don’t know me,” Jeff said. “They don’t know Hunter, Austin – they don’t know Karmelo. They’re looking for their 15 minutes of fame or their clickbait or their clicks. They’re looking to monetize the death of my son.”
He added that he “really wished they wouldn’t speak about” the situation “at all.”

Jeff then turned his attention to the example given by host Will Cain who said that Sunny Hostin of The View argued that Anthony could genuinely argue that he acted in “self-defense.”
“If that woman said that, she has no idea about the facts of the case, but she wants to spew her public opinion on a platform that reaches millions of people every day,” he told Cain. “Do I have that platform? No, but today I have a little platform to say what I’d like. She is completely wrong.”

Jeff also offered to appear on The View himself to discuss the case.
Earlier this month, jurors rejected the idea that Anthony acted in self-defense. He was found guilty of murder and sentenced to 35 years in prison. His legal team filed an appeal less than 24 hours after he was sentenced.
