In a groundbreaking initiative to combat food waste and support vulnerable communities, Atlantis Casino Resort Spa in Reno, Nev., is repurposing its buffet leftovers to feed at-risk youth.

Atlantis Casino Resort Spa worked with the local health department to approve daily meal deliveries to Eddy House, a shelter dedicated to supporting homeless youth. The partnership, which began earlier this year, is expected to provide over 18,000 meals to those in need.

The initiative not only addresses the critical issue of food waste — hundreds of thousands of pounds of which is produced by casino buffets — but also provides much-needed support to the community’s most vulnerable members.

Atlantis Casino Resort Spa is working closely with Eddy House to ensure that surplus food is safely and efficiently transported in warming trays, ensuring that the meals remain fresh and nutritious. This collaboration highlights a significant step forward in sustainable practices within the hospitality industry.

The partnership arrives ahead of National Stop Food Waste Day on April 30, which aims to raise awareness about the global issue of food waste and encourage more sustainable practices.
