Woman Punches Employee, Shoots at Nail Salon Over $15 Broken Nail Repair Bill

A woman in Arizona wasn’t pleased with the price of her fingernail repair and allegedly assaulted a worker before opening fire on the business.

Essence Mire was arrested on Saturday, August 29, and charged with one count of aggravated assault, one count of discharging a firearm at a nonresidence, as well as discharging a firearm in city limits and assault.

According to a report from AZ Family, Mire, 26, was upset at the employees of Element Nail Bar when she learned a repair of her broken fingernail would cost $15. She admitted to punching one of the employees in the face after an argument before going out into the parking lot and retrieving a gun. She also admitted to firing the gun once into the glass door of the business, causing it to shatter.

The outlet reports there were roughly 18 people inside the business at the time. As soon as the shot rang out, many of them fled out the back door. Others took cover and hid. Meanwhile, Mire got in her vehicle and fled the scene. Police soon tracked her down at her home and arrested her.

The outlet states she confessed to the punch and the shooting, saying she did it with the hopes of scaring the business into repairing her nail for free.

After she was booked, AZ Family reports that her bond was set at $100,000.

As for the business, when reached by Law&Crime, the manager said that there were no injuries from the incident and that “everyone was fine.” They also stated that the business was already back open for business as of Tuesday, September 1.
