Why Matt Damon and Heath Ledger Switched Roles After Being Cast in 2005’s ‘The Brothers Grimm’
Matt Damon and Heath Ledger play siblings Will and Jake, traveling con artists in the 19th century, in the 2005 fantasy adventure movie The Brothers Grimm, inspired by the famous fairy tales — but each was originally cast as the other brother and insisted on switching roles.
That allowed Matt to play the older, more grounded brother, while Heath played the sensitive, idealistic one in this story of swindlers who take money to pretend they’re killing monsters — until some real demons come along and put their skills to the test.
