Fans of the iconic rock band The Who are wondering who is on drums after longtime stickman Zak Starkey was reportedly booted from the group, rumored to be replaced by Scott Devours — and then rehired just days later.

The son of Beatles drumbeater Ringo Starr, Zak had been banging out Who hits like Pinball Wizard and Won’t Get Fooled Again since 1996.

According to band boss Pete Townshend, the group was unhappy with how Zak was sticking during two March charity gigs in England.

He says Zak’s been asked “to tighten up his latest evolved drumming style to accommodate our non-orchestral lineup and he has readily agreed.” Pete blamed the “firing” ruckus on “some miscommunication issues, personal and private on all sides,” and apologized to Scott for the “rumor” that he was replacing Zak.
