GLOBE recently reported on Stephen A. Smith insulting tennis icon Serena Williams for appearing at the Super Bowl halftime show, where she danced to Kendrick Lamar’s diss song Not Like Us, which mentions her ex-boyfriend Drake.

Serena has been happily married for eight years to biz whiz Alexis Ohanian, dad of her two young kids, but Stephen outrageously claimed her cameo was an insult to her hubby because her ex is featured in the diss track.

“If I’m your husband, I’m thinking, ‘Why are you up there trolling him — trolling your ex?’” blathered Stephen. “If I’m married and my wife is going to troll her ex, go back to his ass! Because clearly you don’t belong with me. What you worried about him for — and you with me? Bye bye.”

The backlash for insulting Serena was loud — forcing big-mouth Stephen to turn tail and explain himself on social media.

“I didn’t utter a single disrespectful word about Serena,” he insisted. “Come on. We were joking around …

It’s not that serious. Everybody knows that she and Drake were together at one time.”

Whether the blowhard was sincere about his explanation — or even about his slam against tennis’ grand slam winner — only he knows.

He has also trashed right-wing pundit Megyn Kelly for her false report that Super Bowl champ Philadelphia Eagles refused a White House visit. Some believe that recent political comments he’s babbled about point to plans for a future run for office. But can you imagine a President Stephen A. Smith? One thing’s for sure — making outrageous, anger-triggering comments is gold for the goofball.

For his gig on ESPN’s First Take commentary show, he pulls down $12 million a year, but reportedly inked a five-year deal worth $120 million, doubling his annual take.

Meanwhile, former cohost Skip Bayless, a mild-mannered former newspaper sports reporter, earned only $8 million.

Yes, being loud and obnoxious pays big dividends.

So, even if Stephen goes too far, gets smacked with a backlash and has to apologize publicly, do you really think he cares? Heck, he’s laughing all the way to the bank!
