“It’s not a time for you to stand up for him. He needs to twist and eventually be cut loose, not saved,” Kelly, 55, said during the Tuesday, April 28, episode of The Megyn Kelly Show. “But the problem is George Clooney has a god complex.”

Last week, Kimmel, 58 — whose show Jimmy Kimmel Live! was paused last fall after he joked about the death of Charlie Kirk — quipped during his monologue that Melania, 56, had a “glow like an expectant widow.” Two days later, a shooting occurred at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, and the president, 79, and his wife were quickly evacuated. No one was injured, but the comedian’s comment was suddenly in the spotlight.
Donald, along with several others, demanded Kimmel be fired by ABC, but Clooney, 64, defended his remark.

The Ocean’s 11 star compared it to White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt saying in an interview there would be “shots fired” at the dinner, referring to the Apprentice alum making jokes throughout the night.
“Jimmy’s a comedian, and I would argue that Karoline Leavitt didn’t mean shots should be fired,” Clooney said, per Variety. “She was making a joke. Fair enough. You look at that side and go, ’Well, jokes are jokes.’ But the rhetoric is a little dangerous. And we’ve seen it a lot lately.”
Kelly didn’t see it that way, though.
“That’s not at all the same as what Jimmy Kimmel did, which was a bad taste, classless, borderline call for violence,” the journalist explained. “It’s borderline. I grant you that it’s not explicit, but given the context, you could make the case. I could make the case in front of a jury pretty easily actually… The question is whether, whether it was a good taste, whether it had class, and whether it should be allowed at a place like ABC.”
