Convicted murderer Bryan Kohberger, who is serving four life sentences for the murders of four University of Idaho students, wants to walk back his guilty plea. However, podcast host Megyn Kelly claims he is “just trying to get a get out of jail free pass for a few weeks or maybe even a day for a hearing.”

The host of the Megyn Kelly Show, 55, called Kohberger, 31, a “frustrated, unhappy life sentence guy” while speaking to journalist Howard Blum during the Tuesday, July 28, episode.

In July 2025, Kohberger accepted a plea deal in exchange for avoiding the death penalty in the case of the November 2022 murders. But the former criminal justice student has now claimed, per the New York Times, that he had “ineffective assistance of counsel.”

“My actual innocence is my truth, and the plea, hinged on by false promises and blatant disinformation, MUST be withdrawn,” he told the outlet on Monday. “Over a year later, it is self-evident that, in State v. Kohberger, justice was not served.”

In an affidavit filed on Monday, Kohberger claimed that he was not informed about “exculpatory evidence,” specifically “clumps of hair found in [victim] Ethan Chapin’s hand”, that would have changed his decision to agree to a plea deal, People reported.

“They never tested the DNA of that hair, but they did make a presumption based on scientific evidence that that bit of hair belonged to Ethan,” Blum told Kelly on Tuesday. “This is one of the many questions that the government, the prosecution never tried to answer because they did not want to know the answers.”

Blum theorized that Kohberger acted as an accomplice in the murders of Kaylee Goncalves, 21, Madison Mogen, 21, Xana Kernodle, 20, and Ethan Chapin, 20, rather than the lone killer.

“Now Brian Kohberger, stuck in jail, bored, unhappy with his surroundings, unhappy with the choices, is now going to torment them once again,” he added. “Bit by bit, I believe he’s going to start revealing things.”
