Lindsay Clancy Jury Fails to Reach Verdict on Fourth Day, Sent Back to Deliberate

Four days into deliberations, a Massachusetts jury still has no answer.

The Daily Mail reported on Tuesday, September 1, that Jurors in Lindsay Clancy‘s trial told Judge William R. Sullivan they could not reach a unanimous verdict, prompting him to send them back to continue deliberating.

The panel, made up of nine women and three men, has now spent 18 hours weighing the case.

Lindsay, 36, a former labor and delivery nurse, is charged with three counts of murder tied to deaths of her three children, Cora, 5, Dawson, 3, and Callan, 8 months, inside the family’s Duxbury home in Massachusetts. She has pleaded not guilty by reason of lack of criminal responsibility.

Her trial opened at Plymouth Superior Court in July 2026 and ran for several weeks, with jurors hearing from her former husband, Patrick Clancy, along with first responders, medical professionals, relatives, investigators and competing mental health experts.

Prosecutors argued Lindsay acted deliberately, sending Patrick out of the house before the incident and later jumping from a second-story window. Her defense countered that she was in the grip of severe postpartum psychosis and could not understand the wrongfulness of her actions at the time.

Jurors are now back in deliberations as they weigh whether Lindsay should be held criminally responsible, a case that has drawn national attention to postpartum mental health struggles.
