A labor and delivery nurse is facing a potential fine for comments she made on her personal social media about former White House Press Secretary under President Donald Trump, Karoline Leavitt.

According to an 18-page recommended order issued by Administrative Law Judge Robert Cohen with the Florida Division of Administrative Hearings, which was seen by Globe, Alexis Lawler is a nurse at Baptist Health Boca Raton Regional Hospital in Boca Raton, Florida. She has been licensed since 2014. In January, she shared a video on her TikTok account in which she had some harsh words for Leavitt, who was expecting a baby at the time.

“As a labor and delivery nurse, it gives me great joy to wish Karoline Leavitt a fourth-degree tear. I hope that you [expletive] rip from bow to stern and never [expletive] normally again, you [expletive],” she says in the video.

Eventually, conservative-leaning X account “Libs of TikTok” picked up the video and it went viral, bringing attention to Lawler and her employment. In addition to death threats, she received two complaints from patients at her workplace, one of which had her as a nurse — but did not hear about the video until after she gave birth.

Per the recommendation document, Lawler has a relatively spotless disciplinary record, save for one parking-related incident and a separate social media post that was investigated by HR but ultimately deemed to have had nothing to do with her employment. As a result, Cohen recommends a light fine of $250, an official reprimand and “continuing education to include at least one course in the appropriate use of social media and the pitfalls associated with its abuse.”

According to NBC Miami, Lawler and her attorney plan to fight this recommendation.
