Kamala Harris Mocked for Echoing President Donald Trump While Accusing Republicans of ‘Cheating’

Former Vice President Kamala Harris is facing criticism after accusing Republicans of trying to “cheat” in the upcoming midterm elections while borrowing a phrase frequently used by President Donald Trump during the 2024 campaign.

In a video posted to X on Thursday, August 27, Harris, 61, urged Democrats to turn out in force for the November elections, which are now roughly two months away.

“We are two months away from the midterms. Get out and vote. Let’s get everyone out to vote. They are cheating,” Harris said in the video. “They are trying to cheat, and we have got to turn out in big numbers and be too big to rig. I’ll see you out there.”

According to Fox News, which reported on the backlash Friday, August 28, the phrase “too big to rig” was repeatedly used by Trump, 80, during his 2024 presidential campaign, and Harris’ decision to adopt it while accusing Republicans of attempting to interfere with the midterms quickly drew criticism from conservative voices on social media. Turning Point show host Jobob Taeleifi responded to Harris’ post, “Sounds familiar,” according to the outlet

“Kamala Harris has never had an original thought in her life,” Turning Point USA spokesman Andrew Kolvet also wrote on X.

Conservative commentator Shawn Farash similarly took aim at Harris’ use of Trump’s language, writing on X, “Nice to know she’s still stealing Trump’s ideas.”

Harris also used the video to criticize Trump’s efforts to change mail-voting rules, pointing to a recent Supreme Court decision that allowed portions of the president’s policies to temporarily move forward while litigation continues. The Supreme Court did not rule on the underlying legality of the restrictions, and a federal judge on Thursday again temporarily blocked the U.S. Postal Service from enforcing the new mail-ballot requirements, according to Fox News Digital.

“By the way, he votes by mail from Mar-A-Lago, but he doesn’t want you to vote by mail. Just this week the U.S. Supreme Court backed up the president’s agenda. He’s trying to make it more difficult for you to vote by mail,” Harris said in the social media post.

The latest political clash comes after Trump renewed his attacks on his former presidential opponent earlier this summer. After Joe Biden ended his reelection campaign in July 2024, Harris replaced him as the Democratic presidential nominee.

As Globe previously reported, Trump reflected on his September 2024 presidential debate against Harris during a July 13 appearance on The Hugh Hewitt Show and complained about the ABC News moderators David Muir and Linsey Davis. Trump claimed the debate had been “two and a half against one,” before adding, “Kamala is the half.”

Nearly two years after their showdown, Harris and Trump are no longer competing for the White House, but the rivalry between the former opponents shows little sign of fading as another election approaches.
