Private zookeeper Joe Exotic, 62, was sobbing — and they weren’t crocodile tears — when his 33-year-old husband, Jorge Marquez Flores, was released from their Fort Worth, Texas, prison and deported to Mexico by a posse of ICE agents.

Joe — whose legal name is Joseph Allen Schreibvogel, though he is known as the Tiger King for his menagerie of big cats in his previous zoo — met and fell in love with the younger Jorge while in jail.

Joe’s notorious for the 2020 Netflix documentary Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem and Madness, which details his plunge from celebrity owner of an Oklahoma exotic animal zoo to inmate after he was convicted of a bizarre murder-for-hire plot to rub out animal rights activist Carole Baskin, amid other critter abuse charges. He was sentenced to 22 years in jail.

Shortly after tying the knot with Jorge, a thrilled Joe posted on social media: “Never been more proud of someone. Meet my husband, Jorge Flores Maldonado.”

His happiness came crashing down shortly after when his husband — who was jailed on immigration charges — got released and then was quickly deported out of the country, leaving the Tiger King mewing.
